Note: Jason Bay is Swinging the Bat Well

During yesterday’s 10-0 loss to the Phillies, Jason Bay went 1 for 3 and also got hit by a pitch on his knee.

Going into the Mets April 18 game in St. Louis, Bay was hitting .222 with no home runs and two RBI, and was given the day off, although he went 0 for 1 in a pinch hit role.

Since the Mets returned from St. Louis, Bay has gone 12 for 37 with four runs scored, four doubles, three triples, one home run, and six RBI, and has raised his average to .268 on the year.

Bay also owns an eight game hitting streak, and over that span he has gone 10 for 28 with five RBI.

…i think it’s safe to say Jerry Manuel’s lineup shuffle and moving Jose Reyes to the third hole got Bay going, and i can certainly understand why considering Reyes has often been on base in front of him over that stretch…Bay is a streaky hitter and always has been, and i think he simply started his season on one of his cold streaks…not to downplay the lineup move because it clearly has benefited Bay and the entire offense outside of yesterday, but Bay is too good of a hitter to be in a slump for that long…
