…i am beyond happy the Mets swept the Phillies, are on fire, and two games out first… that’s awesome… but, i can’t stop thinking of Mike Pelfrey, who is becoming an ace, maturing in to an outstanding pitcher right in front of our eyes… it’s a joy to watch…

…there was an energy in the ballpark when he took the mound last night, maybe because of the rain delay and pent up energy, maybe because of the prospect of sweeping the Phillies, but also because mike was on the mound… the day he pitches, i sense players are eager to get to the ballpark and compete with him, there is a pep in people’s step, fans included, like when Johan Santana pitches, and that’s an amazing thing… in game, he’s creating a cool, confident and presence on the mound, which i also think is rubbing off on the players behind him…

…what’s more, he didn’t have his best stuff last night… he looked a little jacked up to start the game, and his command was a bit off, but he battled through it, competed and tosses seven shut-out innings… his splitter-change up is letting him challenge hitters with his fastball, which he moves up and down the strike zone changing eye-levels like a champ… in the sixth inning, the Phillies had a runner on and one out, but he never lost his cool, getting Chase Utley to pop up and Ryan Howard to ground out in to the shift

The Mets begin a three-game series with the Brewers in Milwaukee tonight at 8:10 pm, with Johan Santana (4-2, 3.41 ERA) taking on Yovani Gallardo (4-2, 3.20 ERA).
