News: Mets DFA Gary Matthews Jr.
According to Adam Rubin of ESPN New York, the Mets decided to promote Omir Santos because Henry Blanco is “banged up”.

The Mets have designated Gary Matthews Jr for assignment, and have re-called Omir Santos from Double-A Binghamton.
…fans, rejoice…interesting choice to bring up Santos…i would have thought they would promote Jesus Feliciano…the Mets now have three catchers on the roster, and with the way Rod Barajas and Henry Blanco have gone, i don’t know how they’re going to get Santos any playing time…
