Post Game: Phillies 6, Mets 5
The Mets lost to the Phillies by the score of 6-5 at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia.
The Mets once again fell below .500 to 55-56, were 2-4 on the road trip, and still have not won a road series against a National League team this season.

The Least You Should Know:
- R.A. Dickey started for the Mets, and was ineffective through three innings, allowing all six runs to the Phillies including a solo home run to Jayson Werth and a three run home run to Raul Ibanez.
- Both Jose Reyes and Angel Pagan combined to go 4 for 8, but David Wright, Carlos Beltran and Ike Davis combined to go 1 for 12 on the afternoon.
- Wright and Beltran combined to go 5 for 45 on the road trip.
- The Mets are now 14-22 in one run games this season.
Reyes had a horrible road trip in the field – once again today, he simply missed a routine play which opened the flood gates for the Phillies in that third inning.
The Mets actually got to Roy Halladay this afternoon, and while Wright had a brilliant day in the field, he along with Beltran struggled offensively yet again, and if those two aren’t going to hit, the Mets simply won’t be able to compete offensively.
In the ninth inning, with Josh Thole on first base and the Mets down a run, Ruben Tejada seemed to have every intention to bunt Thole to second, and I just can’t figure that out.
During the game, Gary Cohen, Ron Darling, and Keith Hernandez had an interesting discussion about Beltran on whether or not he will revert to form and whether or not he’s lost confidence – I do believe he will eventually find his groove, much like Reyes did earlier in the season. I just fear once he does, it might be all for naught.
Up Next:
The Mets are off tomorrow, and will open a three game series on Tuesday night against the Rockies at Citi Field, with Mike Pelfrey facing Ubaldo Jimenez. Game time is 7:10 pm.
