Carlos Beltran can be traded
According to FoxSports.com, Carlos Beltran cleared waivers yesterday, meaning he is free to be traded to any team.
Honestly, this isn’t a huge deal, as it’s more of a technicality than anything else, considering he still has a full no-trade clause, he’s batting .195 while wearing a knee brace, and is still due around $5 million this season and another $18.5 million next season.
Nevertheless, any team can try to trade for Beltran.
“It is now clear that the Mets would be open to trading Beltran this winter,” David Waldstein wrote yesterday in the New York Times. “Even more, the Mets are ready to let Beltran go right now, for nothing in return, if a team claims him off waivers.”
