David Wright is On the Upswing
During the Mets current seven game road trip, David Wright has hit .409 with one home run and one RBI, with just three strikeouts in 22 at bats.
Wright has hit in seven of his last eight games and has hit .364 over that span.
That said, prior to this stretch, Wright was mired in a deep slump, going 2 for 33 with 12 strikeouts to start the month of August.
I don’t know what it is with Wright, but it goes one of two ways for him – he is either unstoppable, or he can’t even hit a beach ball…He’s had a good year, but when he goes into those slumps, it’s easy to forget all of the positives and that he still has the second-most RBI in the National League East.
He needs to find a way to become more consistent, and less extreme. Don’t get me wrong, I love stretches like the one he’s currently in, but the streaks are like clockwork and he has to find a way to weather the storm without tinkering with his batting stance, footwork, or where he stands in the batters box.
