Essential Jerry After Yesterday’s Loss

by Michael Baron on September 4th, 2010 at 6:06 am

After yesterday’s 7-6 loss to the Cubs, Jerry Manuel spoke with reporters, and essentially said the following:

  • The Cubs got R.A. Dickey at the right time with a few men on base, and with the wind blowing out at Wrigley Field, the ball is going to go out.
  • He hasn’t noticed anything in particular which has led to Dickey’s recent inconsistencies.
  • Regarding Angel Pagan, he thought having the last couple of days off helped to freshen him up.
  • He feels Lucas Duda is an interesting player, and he is going to do some good things – he feels Duda moves well for a big guy, and is more impressed with his outfield defense than anything else.
  • Chris Carter always worries him with his outfield defense, but what he can get to, he will give 110 percent.
