Mets sign Boof Bonser
The Mets officially announced the signing of Boof Bonser to a minor league contract with an invite to major league Spring Training.
Bonser split his 2010 between the A’s and Red Sox, and combined to go 1-0 with a 6.15 ERA in 15 relief appearances. He refused a minor league assignment on November 3 by the A’s, and was granted free agency.
In four big league seasons, Bonser has gone 19-25 with a 5.18 ERA in 111 career games, 60 of those as a starting pitcher. He has allowed 416 hits in 475 1/3 innings, walking 133 and striking out 334.
