During the discussion Dickey basically said:
- He just tried to hang in there as long as he could but was having trouble controlling his pitches.
- This was a real day of highs and lows for him–elated to pitch in the opener but totally deflated about the outcome.
- He wanted to go another inning but all parties concerned felt it was best to get him out of there so no further damage could be done to his nail.
- He is confident he will be able to make his next start.
