Pre-Game: David Wright’s back, Davis to PSL
According to Mike Mazzeo of ESPN New York, Ike Davis, who is wearing an air cast to protect his sprained ankle, will head to Port St. Lucie tonight to rehabilitate.
Mazzeo says Davis is confident he will be able to re-join the team when he’s eligible to return from the disabled list on May 26.
Original Post, 4:10 pm:
David Wright underwent an MRI today on his back at the Hospital for Special Surgery, and he has been tentatively diagnosed with a stress fracture in his lower back.
This afternoon at Citi Field, Sandy Alderson spoke with reporters about Wright’s injury, essentially saying the following:
- The injury occurred on the diving tag play to Carlos Lee last month.
- He will get a second opinion, and a decision about the disabled list will be made at that time.
- The injury will NOT require surgery – Wright needs to rest for seven to ten days, and then he can return to baseball activities.
- He doesn’t believe this is a long-term injury.
