David Wright has been great since returning from the DL

I’ve been saying it all week long, but I think the key to David Wright‘s success at the plate has been his ability to drive the outside pitch to the opposite field, rather than trying to pull that pitch like he so often appeared to do prior to going on the disabled list.

I’m no hitting coach, but one thing is for sure is that he is standing much closer to the plate than he was earlier this season. While he’s certainly sacrificing the inside part of the plate, he now has the ability to reach pitches on and off the outside corner, which certainly changes his vision of that pitch location. I wonder if, while on rehab in Port St. Lucie, his stance and location in the batters box is something he was made aware of, and what we are seeing is an adjustment as a result.

Wright has seven straight multiple hit games which is one short of Steve Henderson’s franchise record set in July, 1979.
