According to Steve Melewski of MASNSports.com, the Orioles have yet to seek permission from the Mets to speak with J.P. Ricciardi about their vacant General Manager position.
On Wednesday, Buster Olney of ESPN said Riccairdi was on Baltimore’s short list of general manager candidates, although Andy Martino of the Daily News recently said that the Mets had not received any requests by teams wishing to speaking to Ricciardi or Paul DePodesta about any General Manager positions.
Earlier this week, Brian Costa of the Wall Street Journal said Ricciardi had not been contacted by Baltimore for their vacant GM position, but Ricciardi said he would listen if they were interested.
Earlier this month, Andy MacPhail resigned as President of Baseball Operations and General Manager of the Orioles, a position he held for 4 1/2 seasons.
Baltimore finished with a 69-93 record in 2011.

Ricciardi served as general manager of the Blue Jays for the 2002 season and served as their GM before being fired with two days left in the 2009 season. Ricciradi’s Blue Ays posted five winning records in his eight seasons at the helm although his teams never reached the playoffs.
