Rob Cesternino was a contestant on Survivor: Amazon in 2003 and Survivor: All Stars. He’s also a very passionate Mets fan.
Last week, I talked with him on his latest podcast, during which we discuss the Mets, their off season and what’s next, as well as our thoughts on Survivor (of which I am still a big fan), the similarities between Jose Reyes and Ozzy, and if Bobby Valentine would be a good contestant for the show.

Joel Sherman of the New York Post says the Yankees, Blue Jays, Red Sox, Padres, and Rockies have all asked the Mets about Jon Niese.
According to Jon Heyman, in talks for the Niese, the Mets are looking for multiple players, potentially a catcher, infielder and prospects. Andy Martino of the Daily News and Mike Puma of the New York Post both say the Mets are looking to get back major-league talent in a deal for Niese.
It’s worth noting that Brian Costa of the Wall Street Journal is saying the Mets are not necessarily ‘shopping Niese,’ but simply listening to offers from interested teams.
Nevertheless, Martino says the Mets are listening to trade proposals on “just about everybody,” though a source says it’s very unlikely R.A. Dickey gets moved this winter. Martino also says teams have asked about Mike Pelfrey, but the Mets have been underwhelmed by what people are offering.
Similarly, earlier today, Sherman said the Mets are listening to offers for everyone but David Wright – after which SNY’s Kevin Burkhardt said, ‘Ike Davis isn’t going anywhere,’ based on his conversations with a reliable source. Also, Sherman says – though the Mets have asked around - they have found absolutely no interest from other teams in Jason Bay.
Despite all the talk of trades, two Mets officials told Martino it’s not likely Niese will be traded tonight. Similarly, one Mets official told David Lennon of Newsday that he’d be ‘surprised’ if Niese is traded this evening as well.
Update, 7:12 pm:
The Mets are talking to three or four teams about Niese, and looking for multiple players in return, potentially a catcher, infielder and prospects, according to Jon Heyman.
Joel Sherman of the New York Post says the Yankees, Blue Jays, Red Sox, Padres, and Rockies have all inquired about Niese.
Original Post at 3:57 pm:
Sherman’s sources say the Mets are looking to bring back a competent starting pitcher, plus a young position player and other prospects, who could rise to the big leagues at around the same time as Matt Harvey, Zach Wheeler and Jeruys Familia.
Sherman believes Sandy Alderson is approaching teams that have expressed interest in A’s RHP Gio Gonzlaez, but then asking for slightly less… (more…)
