Adam Rubin, in a post to his blog for the Daily News, is reporting that the Mets have now officially declined the option for reliever J.J. Putz.
In addition, the Mets announced that they have exercised the $500,000 option on Mike Pelfrey.
Bart Hubbuch of the New York Post says the Mets have told JJ Putz they will not pick up his option for 2010.

The Brooklyn Cyclones, in a posting to their Facebook page, have announced that J.J. Putz will not make his scheduled rehab appearance tonight.
The reason for the change is unknown.

“J.J. Putz will undergo surgery Tuesday to remove a bone spur in his pitching elbow,” reports Ken Rosenthal on FoxSports.com, according to a major-league source.
Rosenthal believes Putz will be out for eight to 10 weeks.
