Johan Santana was examined today by Dr. David Altchek at the Hospital For Special Surgery, and he will undergo minor elbow surgery which will end his season.
The procedure will involve cleaning up chips in his left elbow, and he is expected to recover in time for the start of Spring Training.

Buzz: Not Major Surgery for Johan

Early sources, including ESPN’s Buster Olney, believe that Johan Santana will not require major reconstructive surgery on his left elbow, but may need corrective surgery or have his elbow cleaned out which will allow him to be ready for the 2010 season.
