Yesterday in the Daily News, Anthony McCarron wrote that the Mets and Yankees are among 11 teams who have expressed ‘preliminary interest’ in Prior.

…from what i can gather, at least three teams from the NL East have expressed interest in prior, and none of them will likely end up signing him…also, he has at least two offers that will guarantee him two years on a major-league roster, while the rest are most interested in the previously mentioned one-year deal with incentives for a second season…lastly, the overwhelming buzz from baseball suggests that prior will sign sooner than later…personally, i have concerns over whether to guarantee him a spot at all…let alone for two years…

Prior has not pitched in a big-league game since August 2006.

He is 42–29 in 106 starts for his career, with a 3.51 ERA.
