Note: I Don’t Own Anything About It

As some of you know, my wife and I spent the last week traveling up the coast of California while on vacation.
While walking on a street in Beverly Hills, a man stepped in front of me, smoking a cigarette, pacing and swearing while ranting and raving on his cell phone.
I turned to my wife and said, [...]

Note: There is a Big Game Tonight

I’m trying real hard not to be excited for tonight’s game, but I can’t help myself.
It seems like every time the Mets are faced with the chance to push above .500, like they are tonight, they lose - and I’m tired of getting my hopes up, only to have them dashed.
Of course, I am a [...]

News: Crutches, Flat Ground and Sporadic

Yes, as Ted Berg was first to report this morning, I broke my toe earlier today.
According to the doctor, though I am required to be on crutches for two to three weeks, I have been cleared to blog from flat ground.
So, while posting from my laptop may be sporadic, I will not require any significant time [...]

News: Cerrone breaks toe

According to a source close to MetsBlog.com, Matt Cerrone injured his toe while getting ready for work this morning and took himself to the emergency room for x-rays.
Cerrone, who has previously been bothered by knee problems and peanut butter, is expected to miss at least several hours of posting on MetsBlog.
…i get the sense that [...]

Opinion: The Communication Breach

In the last 24 hours, I have heard from people and read a ton of text about how the Mets fired Willie Randolph, which has been described as a ‘massacre,’ as, ‘dishonest,’ and as, ‘disrespectful,’ complete with people comparing it to a mob hit.
According to Omar Minaya, during his press conference with reporters yesterday, he [...]

Opinion: Man, It was a Long Day

This was an odd day, to say the least.
When I got the news of Willie Randolph’s firing early this morning, I was a bit sad and angry.  Early in the day, I wrote that I felt dirty, because over the last few weeks I have had the opportunity to watch this all go down, quite up close and [...]

Note: I’m Confused

…i have to be honest, i am a little confused by how how some members of the media are reacting, saying things like, ‘The Mets should be ashamed of themselves,’ and so on…it almost feels like they’re more worked up about having missed the story, because they were all basically getting ready for bed when [...]

Opinion: I’m getting Ready to Move On

…i’ve been hanging around the SNY Studios in New York City, listening and watching their coverage of today’s events with Keith Hernandez, Ken Rosenthal, Jon Heyman, Darryl Strrawberry, etc, all of which you can watch here, and, honestly, i’m starting to get excited about moving on from this…
…i want to hear what Omar Minaya has to [...]

Opinion: I Feel Dirty

As a Mets fan, I’m embarrassed this morning, and I feel a little dirty.
I understand why Willie Randolph was fired.  In fact, due to the time I spend talking to people connected to the team, I am probably aware of why he was fired better than most people.
The problem is that, like in so many cases [...]

Opinion: Fight, Win, Hope and a New Day

When I was in Philadelphia in April, filming a video for SNY, a little boy in a Phillies jersey approached the camera and with a small voice, wide eyes and a big heart, enthusiastically said, “The Phillies lost last night, but they’re gonna win today.”
He smiled, believing what he said, and walked away.
I miss being that [...]
