Nelson Figueroa has been promoted from Triple-A Buffalo to start for the Mets Monday.
Pat Misch has been designated for assignment.
Figueroa had been 7–1 with a 1.51 ERA in his last 10 starts for Triple-A Buffalo.
Misch allowed three runs in 13 games while pitching for the Mets.
The team announced Gary Sheffield will be activated from the disabled list prior to today’s game, while Robinson Cancel will designated for assignment.
Additionally, Nelson Figueroa will be promoted to start Monday against the D-Backs, since Tim Redding pitched in relief on Saturday.
Figueroa is 7–1 with a 1.51 ERA in his last 10 starts for Triple-A Buffalo.

Mets 22-year-old RHP Brad Holt was named the Eastern League’s Pitcher of the Week for July 19, during which he was 2-0 with a 1.32 ERA with 14 strikeouts in 13 innings.
Holt is 2–2 with a 3.85 ERA in his last four starts in Double-A, while striking out 30 hitters in 21 innings.

According to David Lennon of Newsday, the Mets released Freddy Garcia from Triple-A Buffalo.
Garcia will be replaced on the roster by Nelson Figueroa, who will start tonight against Triple-A Rochester.
Wily Mo Pena will be added to the Triple-A roster as well.
On his blog for the Daily News, Adam Rubin reports, “Nelson Figueroa has decided to re-sign with the organization after testing free agency by refusing a minor-league assignment earlier in the week.”
