Health: Valentin Done, Alou, Castillo, Church

by Matthew Cerrone on June 23rd, 2008 at 10:23 am

Ryan Church will likely play in a rehab game for Single-A Brooklyn this week, with the hope of returning to Shea Stadium this weekend against the Yankees.

Meanwhile, prior to yesterday’s game, Jerry Manuel told reporters that, while Moises Alou could eventually return to action, he is approaching the rest of the season as though Alou will not be back.

Also, Manuel said he will continue to sit Luis Castillo, who is not ‘100 percent,’ suggesting that the second baseman could eventually end up on the disabled list.

“I don’t see Luis moving as well as I’d like to see him moving right now,” said Manuel, adding, “We’re going to do what we can to keep him fresh.”

Speaking of second base, according to Anthony Di Como of MLB.com, though he has not officially retired, Jose Valentin told the Mets he is ‘done playing for the season.’

…lastly, from what i can gather, Angel Pagan is still working hard in St. Lucie while recovering from a shoulder injury…he can throw and catch, and is still working to hit from both sides of the plate…

News: Alou to Have MRI

by Matthew Cerrone on June 11th, 2008 at 5:05 pm

Moises Alou will not be with the team tonight, as he will instead have an MRI on his calf.

According to Willie Randolph, Alou may be ‘shut down’ for a couple of days.

you can’t make this up, man…un…be…lievable

Before leaving for his MRI, Alou told reporters that he is ‘embarrassed.’

i mean, he couldn’t even get through half a game…half a game

seriously, do you think the league will allow him to hit from a wheel chair…because, i bet he could do it…and this way, it would limit the chances of him getting hurt again…plus, it’d be a much smaller strike zone…

To hear from Alou, tune in to the Pre Game Show at 6:30 pm tonight on .

“Definitely….For some reason, I feel optimistic about it.”

…this is probably because when you are on the roster, mo, the team wins – and when you’re not, they don’t…

…the problem is that you are rarely on the roster
