The Mets have a Major League high 16 players participating in the World Baseball Classic this spring.
The following is an update on Mets players in yesterday’s WBC action:
- David Wright was 3-for-5 with two runs scored in USA’s 15-to-6 rout over Venezuela.
- Oliver Perez allowed four runs on seven hits, whiles striking out five over 2.0 IP in Mexico’s loss to Australia.
- Jose Reyes and Fernando Tatis were hitless in each of their four at-bats in the Dominican Republic’s 9-to-0 win over Panama.

The following is a quick update on the progress of a few Mets players in the WBC:
- Carlos Delgado was 3-for-4 with a homerun and two runs scored, while Carlos Beltran was 1-for-4 in Puerto Rico’s 7-to-0 win over Panama.
- David Wright was 0-for-4 leaving five runners on base in Team USA’s 6-to-5 win over Canada.
- Neither Jose Reyes or Fernando Tatis had an at-bat in the Dominican Republic’s 3-to-2 loss to the Netherlands.
- J.J. Putz allowed one run on two hits, earning a save in USA’s one-run win over Canada.
Also, for what it’s worth, Pedro Martinez pitched three scoreless innings with four strikeouts, and Ivan Rodriguez went 4-for-4 with two homeruns and a double.

- Carlos Beltran went 1-for-3, while Carlos Delgado was held hitless in three at-bats in Puerto’s 2-to-1 win over the Rays last night.
- David Wright was 0-for-2 as Team USA’s DH.
- J.J. Putz allowed three runs on three hits in 0.2 IP in Team USA’s 6-to-5 loss to the Blue Jays yesterday.

- Carlos Delgado was 1-for-2 with a double and Carlos Beltran was 1-for-3 in Puerto Rico’s 3-to-2 loss to the Twins.
